KARNATAKA SPECIAL YATRA

  • SRINGERI: Sringeri is renowned for the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, the first matha erected by the Hindu Guru Adi Shankara.
  • DHARMASTHALA: A very legendry historic temple built 8 centuries ago. The Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is of a very unique nature.
  • KUKKE SUBRAMANYA: Kukke Shree Subrahmanya Kshetra, one of the seven realms of creation of Parasurama, is famous for Naga worship since the ages of mythology and history, and Lord Vasuki is the presiding deity of Shree Subrahmanya as a devotee of devotees.
  • UDUPI: The Krishna Matha was founded by the Vaishnavism saint Jagadguru Shri Madhvacharya in the 13th century. He was the founder of the Dvaita school of Vedanta. It is believed that Madhvacharya found the Vigraha of Shri Krishna in a large ball of Gopi Chandana.
  • KOLLUR: Kollur Mookambika temple is one of the auspicious temples of Karnataka. This temple is dedicated to knowledge and art and Goddess here worshipped as Lord of speech and letters. It is said that the idol of Mookambika Devi is made of “Panchaloha” - five metals (gold, silver, cop per, iron and lead). Adi Shankaracharya was the person who installed the Kollur Mookambika temple.
  • IDUGUNGI: this Ganesha temple is certainly a must-visit. Idagungi Temple has great mythological significance and over 1 million devotees visit the shrine every year. The legend dates back to the end of ‘Dvapara-yuga’ and the beginning of ‘kali-yuga’
  • MUDUDESHWAR: the temple is famous for its colossal statue of Lord Shiva and the world's second-tallest Shiva statue. The temple's origin is linked to the tale of Ravana receiving the Atma Linga from Lord Shiva.
  • GOKARNA :The temple deifies the Prana Linga ("the reality of God which can be captured by the mind") also called Atma Linga or Shiva Linga[1] In legend, it is said that the deity of the temple will bestow immense blessings to devotees, even to those who only glimpse it.
  • KALASA: The Kalaseshwara Temple is located on a hillock, and its main features include a soapstone shrine was built in the Hoysala sculpture style
  • HORANADU: The Annapoorneshwari Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Annapoorneshwari. Devotees of this goddess believe that if they seek her blessings, they will never lack food in their lives.

KASHI SPECIAL YATRA

  • KASHI: It is among the most important Hindu temples in India and is one of the 12 temples where Shiva is believed to have appeared as a column of light. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple stands on the west bank of the Ganges River.
  • GAYA:The city is located on the bank of Falgu River and is considered among one of the most sacred cities for Hindus. Nomenclature of Gaya is based on the myth of demon Gayasur who Lord Vishnu had killed in a dual. The place is so sacred for Hindus that even Lord Ram had performed Pindadanam here for his ancestors.
  • AYODHYA:the birthplace of the Hindu deity Rama of Kosala and is hence regarded as the first of the seven most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus
  • PRAYAGRAJ: Prayag in modern-day Prayag raj is believed to be the most important pilgrimage centre for Hindus. Traditionally river confluences are regarded as auspicious places, but in Sangam, the significance of the confluence is most pious because here, the holy Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati meet to become one.

HARIDWAR SPECIAL YATRA

  • HARIDWAR: Haridwar is one of the seven sacred cities of the Hindus and is a major pilgrimage centre. Haridwar is one of the first towns where Ganga emerges from the mountains to touch the planes.
  • RISHIKESH:Rishikesh is also known as the world capital of yoga
  • KEDARNATH:One of the most interesting features of the Kedarnath Temple is its unique lingam. Devotees believe Lord Shiva himself worship himself here. Unlike other lingams that are made of stone or metal, people believe it to be a natural rock formation in the shape of a lingam.
  • BADRINATH:It is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites. The image of the presiding deity worshipped in the temple is a 1 ft (0.30 m), the black granite deity of Vishnu in the form of Badrinarayan. The deity is considered by many Hindus to be one of eight Swayam Vyatka kshetras, or self-manifested deities of Vishnu.
  • GANGOTRI:Gangotri is one of the four sites in the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. It is also the origin of the Ganges River and seat of the goddess Ganga. The river is called Bhagirathi at the source and acquires the name Ganga (the Ganges) from Devprayag onwards where it meets the Alaknanda.
  • YAMUNOTRI:Yamunotri, also Jamnotri, is the source of the Yamuna River and the seat of the Goddess Yamuna in Hinduism.

AMARNATH SPECIAL YATRA

  • JAMMU: All the temples in Jammu bear a rich history and created by the finest craftsmen in stunning locations and spiritual aura radiated by these glorious temples.
  • VAISHNO DEVI:Shakta traditions consider the temple as one of the 52 Maha (major) Shakti Peetas dedicated to Durga. The devotees believe that a visit to this holy sanctum rids you of the pains of childbirth as well as grants you Moksha by freeing you from the repeated cycles of birth.
  • AMARNATH:The water drops that fall from the roof of the cave forms an ice structure of the Shiva Linga. This Lingam waxes during the short span of summer and wanes during winter. This cave temple is considered as one of the seven wonders of India.
  • SRI NAGAR:The Shankaracharya temple is located on the top of the Gopadari hill in Srinagar, at the height of more than 1000 feet from ground level. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, has ancient origins. As per belief, Shaivism spread from this region due to its location near Mount Kailash.

TAMIL NAADU SPECIAL YATRA

  • KANCHIPURAM: several centuries made Kanchipuram a vibrant centre of built heritage, particularly temples dedicated to Siva and Vishnu, in all more than one hundred and fifty temples.
  • CHIDAMBARAM:The location of the Chidambaram Temple is considered to be the centre of the Earth's magnetic equator. The Chidambaram temple complex proudly boasts of being one of the oldest temple complexes in Southern India.
  • TANJAVOOR:The temple has a massive colonnaded prakara (corridor) and one of the largest Shiva lingas in India. the shadow of the Tanjore temple does not fall on ground in noon because of the way its basement has been constructed.
  • MADURAI:The temple is a magnificent example of Dravidian architecture and is dedicated to the goddess Meenakshi and her consort Lord Shiva. The Goddess Meenakshi or Parvati idol is sculpted in a greenish stone. It's breathtakingly beautiful, holy, and has flashy pupils as if the Goddess were alive.
  • TRICHY: By far the most popular place in all of Trichy is the Rock fort Ganpathi Temple or Uchi Pillaiyar Temple. It derives its name from it's unique building style. The temple structure comprises a huge rock, which is believed to be the oldest rock in the world, even older than The Himalayan Mountains.

RAMESHWARAM SPECIAL YATRA

  • MADURAI:The Meenakshi Temple complex is literally a city – one of the largest of its kind in India and undoubtedly one of the oldest too.
  • RAMESHWARAM:Rameswaram is significant for many Hindus as a pilgrimage to Varanasi is considered to be incomplete without a pilgrimage to Rameswaram. The town along with the Ramanathaswamy temple is one of the holiest Hindu Char Dham (four divine sites) sites comprising Badrinath, Puri, and Dwarka.
  • KANYA KUMARI:It's renowned for being the southernmost point of India and the meeting point of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal. The town has spiritual significance as the abode of the virgin Goddess Kanya Kumari, who is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the divine Mother Goddess.

  • VIJAYA WADA:The Kanaka Durga Temple of Andhra Pradesh is one of the many Shakti peetas that are situated in the country. The goddess appears in her Mahishasurmardini form here, along with the image slain demon king Mahishasura. It is believed that the deity is Swayambhu or self-manifested.
  • SRISAILAM:he temple at Srisailam is the ancient and sacred place of South India. The presiding deity of the place is Brahmaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy in natural stone formations in the shape of Lingam and is listed as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas existing in the country.
  • MAHA NANDI: Mahanandi is famous for the Mahanandiswara Temple and foremost shrines of Nava Nandi’s. The nine Nandi temples are Mahanandi, Shiva Nandi, Vinayakanandi, Somanandi, Prathamanandi, Garudanandi, Suryanandi, Krishnanandi and Naganandi.
  • AHOBILAM: Ahobilam is the exact location of the demon Hiranyakashupu's palace, which the epic stories of Lord Narasimha speak of. This place still has remnants, relics and ruins of the demon's palace. The pillar from which the God arose is marked by its base stone and can be accessed after an almost vertical climb up the hill.

KERALA SPECIAL YATRA

  • TIRUVANANATHAPURAM:The Padmanabhaswamy Temple is a Hindu temple, dedicated to Vishnu, in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of the state of Kerala, India. It is one of the 108 Divya Desam’s, the sacred abodes of Vishnu in the Sri Vaishnava tradition. It is widely considered as the world's richest Hindu temple.
  • KANYA KUMARI:The presiding deity of Kanyakumari Temple is Kumari Amman, also known as Bhagavathi Amman. Remarkable feature of the alluring idol of the Goddess Kanya Kumari is the diamond nose ring of the Goddess. There are many popular stories related to the striking shine of the nose ring.
  • VARKALA:Varkala Janrdhanaswami Temple is popular not only as a pilgrim centre but it also allures everyone with its architectural splendour. The temple faces Papanasam beach and the proximity to the sea adds to its spiritual as well as aesthetic aura.
  • KUMARKOM: It is believed that the Subrahmanya Temple, Kumarakom's first temple, was constructed on the orders of the Vadakkumkore king, about 1800 years ago. According to legends, the king, during a break in a journey at the place where the temples are located, had a dream in which he felt the presence of Lord Subrahmanya.
  • ALLEPPEY: Built between 15th and 17th Century A.D., this tranquil temple dedicated to Lord Krishna is famous for its Kerala-style architecture and a fascinating idol of Lord Vishnu.
  • KOVALAM:The Azhimala Shiva Temple is renowned for its mesmerizing sculpture of Lord Shiva, which stands on a rock at an altitude of 20 ft. from the sea.
  • CHOTTANIKARA BHAGAVATI: The temple is known for curing mental illness and disorders due to evil spirits. The patients are brought to the priest(melsanthi), who engages with them in some conversation.
  • GURUVAYOUR: The Guruvayur Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Guruvayurappan, a form of Vishnu, but popularly known as Krishna, Anakotta (Elephant Yard in English), houses the 56 elephants belonging to the temple. GUJRAT STATE SPECIAL YATRA

  • AHMEDABAD AKSHAR DHAM:Dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan, Akshardham Temple is the most visited temple in Ahmedabad. It is prepared from 6000 tons of pink sandstone and covers 23 acres of land.
  • JAM NAGAR:Dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the temple is very popular as it has been recorded in the Guinness Book of world record for its continuous 24 - hours chanting of the 'Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Shree Ram' since 1964.
  • DWARAKA:The Dwarkadhish temple, also known as the Jagat Mandir and occasionally spelled Dwarkadhish, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Krishna, who is worshiped here by the name Dwarkadhish, or 'King of Dwarka'.
  • PORABANDAR: Porbandar, the historical port city of India, is famous for many reasons but the most important reason is that Mahatma Gandhi was born here.
  • SOMNATH: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Somnath Temple is one of the most important spiritual sites in the Hindu circuit. Believed to be the first of the 12 jyotirlingas (devotional shrines of Lord Shiva) in the country, the temple sees a large footfall every year.
  • NAGESHWAR JYOTIRLING:Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 jyotirlinga shrines mentioned in the Shiva Purana and the Dwadasha Jyotirlinga Stotram, says one of the jyotirlinga namely Nagesh is situated in Daruka-Vana.
  • JUNAGADH: Girnar Hill holds a special place for the Hindu devotees. Dattatreya Paduka, an ancient temple located on 9,999 steps of Girnar Hill, is the most revered site for Hindu. Locals say that Paduka of Guru "Dattatreya" is resting on the uppermost tonk of the Girnar.
  • PALITANA: The Palitana temples and whole mountain are considered the most sacred pilgrimage place (tirtha) by the Jain community, and is the world's largest Temple Complex.
  • BHAV NAGAR: Located about a kilometre into the sea, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has 5 distinct swayambhu Shiva lingams on a square platform and each is having a Nandi statue facing it. This temple is submerged during high tides in the sea and emerges during low tides to reveal itself majestically, promising its devotees to wash away all sins. During the high tide, the idol of the lord is submerged and all that can be seen are the flag and a pillar. The temple was built with special care to withstand high tides and it truly remains an unsolved mystery to modern engineers and technology experts.

MAHARASHTRA SPECIAL YATRA

  • Bhima Shankar jyotirlinga:temple of Bhima Shankar Jyotirlinga Temple in Maharashtra and remains a significant religious place for devotees. It is not only a place of religious significance but also an architectural marvel surrounded by lush greenery. This temple is located beside the Bhima River and has a fascinating myth associated with its creation.
  • Nashik – Trimbakeshwar :dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and is one of the twelve jyotirlingas where the Hindu genealogy registers at Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra are kept. The origin of the sacred Godavari River is near Trimbak. The extraordinary feature of the Jyotirlinga located here is its three faces embodying Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
  • Shirdi:Shirdi is one of the most pious lands and a popular pilgrimage centre in India. It features the highly famous holy shrine of Shirdi Sai Baba.
  • SHANI SHIGNAPUR: temple honouring Lord Shani (Saturn). The village is known for its belief in a self-emerged and self-incarnated deity, instilling deep reverence among visitors. With origins stretching back centuries, this temple became significant due to devotees' faith in Lord Shani's divine presence within a black stone (swayambhu) honoured at the site. This imposing black pillar represents his vigilance and authority over all things. What makes this destination unique is that no doors or locks can be found anywhere in town, even within homes or stores, as it is believed that protection from Lord Shani ensures safety throughout.
  • Aurangabad – Grishneshwar Temple : The Grishneshwar Temple is the smallest Jyotirlinga temple in India. The temple, built of red rocks, is composed of a five-tier spire or shikara. You can see the Dash avatars (ten avatars) of Lord Vishnu carved in red stone. The sanctum houses the east-facing Linga.
  • Parli Vaijanath Temple :The Vaijnath Temple Linga is also popular as Dhanvantri and Amriteshwari. The Linga consists of the Saligram stone and has a very smooth surface.
  • Aundha Nagnath Temp: This pilgrim center is of great significance, since it is considered to be the Eighth (Adya), of the 12 jyotirlingas. It is believed that Dharmraj (eldest of Pandav) has constructed this beautiful temple while they were expelled for 14 years from Hastinapur.

HIMACHAL SHAKTI PEETA YATRA

  • Naina devi:Shri Naina Devi Ji, the chief ‘Shakti Peeth’ among the world famous ‘Peeths’ of India.
  • Sheetla devi :The Sheetla devi is incarnation of the Goddess Durga. The temple location is near the famous Chintpurni Devi temple. Sheetala Devi is one of the 51 Shakti-Peeta.
  • Chinta purni:It is home to the Maa Chintpurni Temple which is a major pilgrimage site as one of the Shakti Peetas in India. The legend of Chhinnamasta Devi is apparently also part of the Shaktism tradition in Chintpurni. Here, Chhinnamasta is interpreted as the severed-headed one as well as the fore headed-one.
  • Bagla Mukhi Devi: Mata Bagla Mukhi Temple is among India's most powerful shrines. The Temple is believed to be one of the 108 ancient temples of the Goddess.
  • Jwala ji temple : Jawala Ji or Jwala devi temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of India and Jawala Ji Temple is one of the highly venerated Shakti Temples in India. his is believed to be the first ever temple built by the Pandavas. Jwala Ji is a Devi Temple Dedicated to the “GODDESS OF LIGHT”.
  • Maa Vajreshwari :The Shree Vajreshwari Mata Mandir also known as Kangra Devi Mandir is one of the 51 Shakti Peeta dedicated to the goddess Vajreshwari, a form of Goddess Durga The left breast of Sati fell at this spot, thus making it a Shakti Peeth. The original temple was built by the Pandavas at the time of Mahabharata.
  • Maa chamunda temple: Chamunda emerged from an eyebrow of Goddess Durga with an aim to kill demons Chanda and Munda. After a fierce battle, Devi killed both these generals of demon kings Shumbha and Nishumbha.

ASTA VINAYAKA YATRA

The Ashta Vinayaka Yatra is a pilgrimage covering these eight holy abodes of Ganesha in and around Pune and Raigad District of Maharashtra. The eight temples house eight distinct idols of Ganesha, the Hindu deity of unity, prosperity, learning, and removing obstacles. Each of these temples has its own individual legend and history, as distinct from each other as the murtis in each temple. The form of each murti of Ganesha and his trunk are distinct from one another.

UJJAIN SPECIAL

  • Ujjain mahakal:Ujjain city has a Jyotirlinga Maha kaal out of 12 Jyotirlingas, one city out of seven salvation providing cities, Gadh Kalika and Harsiddhi, the two Shakti Peeths, and sacred Kumbh that takes place in four cities of India.
